The Smith Mountain Lake area continues to grow rapidly as families of all ages relocate here. We have a great mission field in our own backyard. God has called us to be a beacon of hope in our community and in our world. We want to be the hands and feet of Jesus as we love and serve our community. Community outreach programs include:

  • Kid-centered summers: Kids from the community flock to the fun and learning at Vacation Bible School and CentriKid Camp during the summer.
  • Mission Week: Every summer, youth and adults from HBC spend one full week doing service projects in the Smith Mountain Lake area. We work together, worship together, and grow together, for the glory of God!
  • Annual Community Pig Roast: Held in the fall on the church property, the free feast and Gospel music festival is famous for stopping lake traffic on Route 22.

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” (Matthew 28:19-20)

North American Missions
Each year at Easter, Halesford’s congregation participates in the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering for North American Missions. Our nation needs Jesus. Amidst natural disasters, struggling marriages, sickness, and pain, this world is in desperate need of Hope. Through our offerings, we are able to help equip those called directly to called to reach North America with the Gospel.

International Missions
Each year at Christmas, Halesford’s congregation participates in the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering for international missions. These dollars go directly to support the thousands of men, women, and families who have dedicated their lives to taking the Gospel to the nations.

Sending Missionaries
In 2007, a family associated with Halesford left us for the mission field. Doug, Ann, and their family are currently serving the Lord in India. We are in constant prayer for their safety and their mission, and we praise the Lord for folks like these who absolutely fell in love with Him, His plan, and His people.
