Pastor Craig Update

Pastor Craig’s Update to the Church December 13, 2020:  Click For Video Update January 10, 2021 – Click for Video December 10, 2020 Dear Church Family, I hope this letter is finding you well this Christmas season. I wanted to send you an update to let you know how I am doing physically – and why it has been so difficult for me to be with you at this time. First, let me say thank you for the many cards, letters, emails, texts, and phone calls I have received. Halesford is truly a special church, filled with special people.  Your outpourings of love and concern have been a great encouragement to me. Currently, I am finding it difficult to be at the church because the pulmonary embolisms in my lungs control how much energy I have in any given day.  Some days are good, and I feel like I have the energy to do normal things.  Other days are not so good, and I feel tired after going up and down the stairs in our home.  On the days I feel good, I never know how long it will last.  This has been difficult because nothing like this has ever happened to me before.  I’ve always been pretty athletic, and am used to being at church, or out visiting church members, on a daily basis. I was told at the hospital that this is all Covid related and that I have to work through it by being on blood thinning medication for three months.  Since that time, we have been able to move to the area, but I have not been able to get established with a new Primary Care doctor – though I have turned in my paperwork.  And the earliest I can get in to see a pulmonologist is January 7th because they are swamped right now as you can imagine. In addition, I am having difficulty sleeping which is making my recovery harder. This has all been very trying and we are in desperate need of your prayers. While at home, I have been working on a new website for the church that I hope to launch soon. And while I have been able to have some online meetings with the staff and deacons, it’s definitely not the same as being there in-person. Please know that right now, we want to be at Halesford more than anything. We want to continue the ministry that God called us to and grow in greater love and friendship with our new church family. I know that God has allowed this for a reason, and all we can do is ask for your patience during this recovery time. May God richly bless all of you. Sincerely, Pastor...

Church Online

Sunday Morning Service:  8:30 service 11:00 service Sunday School 5 week Series: Session One:  video Anxious for Nothing: Finding Calm in a Chaotic World After watching Session 2: Let Your Gentleness Be Evident to All Take a few minutes with your group members to discuss what topics stuck out to you the most as you watched the video session & explored the Scriptures. 1) Read aloud Exodus 3:7–12.  What fear does Moses express to God in verse 11?  How does God respond in verse 12?  Does God’s response answer Moses’s question directly, or is there a deeper fear God is addressing?  Explain. 2) Again and again throughout his Word, God promises to be with us.  Think about a time when God’s presence calmed you in the middle of a storm.  How did God’s presence change you emotionally, spiritually, and/or physically? 3) Paul says the key to finding gentleness is believing that God is near.  However, just like Jesus’ disciples, we easily forget he is with us and waiting to help us.  What are some things that prevent you from not only knowing but also believing God is near? When have you, like the disciples, faced a trial and took actions into your own hands before turning to the Lord? 4) Have three group members read passages aloud: Galatians 5:22–25; Philippians 2:13; and 2 Peter 1:3. What promise is given in each of these verses? According to these promises, where is your source of calmness?  How does this alleviate the burden to conjure up calmness on your own? 5) Jesus tells us there will always be troubles in life.  But we have the choice to respond to those troubles with gentleness or with frustration.  Considering the biblical promises just read, what specific steps can you take to respond calmly instead of react sharply when anxieties weigh heavily on your shoulders? Close in Prayer Key Scriptures for reflection: Philippians 4:5 Exodus 3:7-12 Genesis 15:1 Deuteronomy 31:8 Joshua 1:9 Isaiah 43:2 Galatians 5:22-25 Philippians 2:13 2 Peter 1:3 Click below For Our Wednesday Night Bible Study: Video link: Wednesday Night Adult Bible Study GOD’S COMMANDMENTS: HONOR YOUR PARENTS We show love to our parents Exodus 20:12; Proverbs 1:8-9; 20:20; 23:22-25; Ephesians 6:1 God says to honor our parents, and he promises a long life for those who do. We can honor our parents by listening to them, not saying mean things to them, bringing them joy, and obeying them. We’ve been learning the Ten Commandments. Now you might think that sounds like a bunch of rules, but God’s Commandments are like street signs, showing us the best way to go. Here’s the one we’ll talk about today: Exodus 20:12 “Honor your father and mother, so that you may live long in the land the Lord our God is giving you.” What does it mean to honor someone? What do you think of the promise that goes with this commandment?  The Bible has a lot to say about what it looks like to honor our parents.  It means we show love to our parents, we listen to their advice, we obey them and only say good things about them. We don’t always understand our parents’ rules.  But we don’t have to understand.  We can obey first and ask why later—and keep obeying even if we never understand the...

Student Ministry

Student Ministry

We want to see generations of teens rise to the call that God has placed on their lives and see the amazing journey He has for them!  We invite to come and be apart of our Student Ministry. The Youth Ministry of Halesford is currently hold a zoom Meeting at 6:30 PM. (Contact the church office for more information.) Youth Sunday School classes meet on Sunday mornings at 10:00 AM. We have the privilege of reaching students in grades 6-12. Our goal is to partner with parents, help students grow in the gospel, and equip them to fulfill the Great Commission by reaching, teaching and sending them to make disciples of all nations. Our purpose is to see students come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ (Romans 10:9). Then students learn how to love God with all of their heart, soul, mind and strength (Mark 12:30) as they follow Jesus in their daily walk. What is G3? Gather – Developing students spiritual walk with God. Grow – Teaching students core biblical truths. Go – Sending students into their community to be a witness for Christ Our teens are a part of a ministry that is Christ centered, relevant to their generation, and exciting to be a part of; that’s what we are all about! Our student calendar is full of events, concerts, mission opportunities, and other great ways to get connected and build lasting relationships. We look forward to meeting you here! You can also find us on Facebook at: https://www.facebook.com/G3-Student-Ministry-458804054243007/   “With” is a small group lead by Pastor Taylor and his wife Hailey once a month on Sunday at 5:00pm in the Youth Center. This is designed for teenagers who want to take their relationship with Christ to a deeper level.  This is a great opportunity for Halesford students to gather together in a small group setting to hear from God and do life together.  We grow with each other, are accountable to each other, and walk with Christ together.  We have been made new in Christ, so therefore we need to walk with that newness of life every day. Romans 6:4  Therefore, we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. Scaremare presents fun-house rooms and scenes of death in order to confront people with the question “What happens after I die?” Groups of people experience a 40-minute journey, passing through creepy trails, dark woods and eventually entering the House. At the end of the experience, visitors are presented with an answer to this question and given the life-changing message of Jesus Christ. Approximately 26,000 people have made decisions for Christ over the past two decades. Ironically, this House of Death points to the Way of Life! Students will be leaving the church at 6:30 Saturday evening October 19.  Please sign up in the youth room.  For more details please contact Pastor Taylor  540 – 598-0553.  Students will need to bring $10 to get in, and money for a fast food dinner.   Justified!!! The Bible teaches that Christians have been declared righteous before God. We have been justified in His presence because the perfect righteousness of Jesus has been accredited to our account. But what does this mean for us...
