Easter Devotional

What is Passion Week? Passion is the term used to describe the spiritual and physical sufferings of Jesus that He experienced during the crucifixion. Passion Week includes the eight-day time span from Palm Sunday to Resurrection Day (Easter Sunday) and all of the events of Jesus’ life that occurred during that week.   Where is Passion Week recorded? It is recorded in the four Gospels: Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. In fact, more than one-half of John’s Gospel takes place during Passion Week and Jesus’ post-resurrection ministry.   What is the purpose of this guide? The crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus are the most important events in all of human history. Scripture repeatedly tells us that Christ died for sins (e.g. 1 Corinthians 15:3; Romans 3:24-26; Hebrews 9:26-28;       1 Peter 3:18; 1 John 2:2; 1 John 4:10). The resurrection is of central importance because if Christ is not raised, Paul tells us that we are still in our sins (1 Corinthians 15:17). The resurrection proved that Jesus was the Son of God and authenticated His entire early ministry. Because of the importance of these events, it is important that Christians worship at this time in a biblical and Christ-centered manner. Easter is not about new church clothes, dinner at a grandmas or a fancy restaurant, Peter Cottontail, or chocolate filled baskets. No, Easter is about the seriousness with which God takes sin. He takes it so serious that it required the death of His Son in order for sins to be forgiven and God’s holiness to shine. Thus, the Christian should spend this week praising God that sin has been dealt with for all of eternity.   How do I use this guide? There is one page for each day (two pages for Friday) and at the end of the guide there is a large diagram of Jerusalem that also details the events of each day and appropriate Scripture passages. Use a page each day to review the events of that day. Some Scripture passages are included in this guide, but most are not. Please read all of the passages in your Bible. It is highly recommended that families do this together.   It is first and foremost the responsibility of parents to train their children in knowledge of the Bible and to fear the Lord. Just read Deuteronomy 6. The Israelites stopped properly celebrating their religious holidays almost immediately upon entering the Promised Land, and thus, the writer of Judges tells us that “After that generation died, another generation grew up who did not acknowledge the LORD or remember the mighty things he had done for Israel” (Judges 2:10). It further degraded to the point that the Lord spoke through very harsh words through the prophets (for example Isaiah 1:14). The goal is to help my family, and each family who uses this, to truly focus on the crucifixion and resurrection of our Lord, the eternal significance of these events as preserved in the Bible and to praise God for what He has done for me and to worship Him as He should be worshipped, with all of my being. This year, don’t give the Lord your leftover time; give Him your best time. It is my prayer that this guide will help you worship the Lord in...

Sunday Morning Service:   https://youtu.be/tsIJb0gWY5g Adult Ministry (Sunday School) Wednesday Night (Adults) Student Ministry (Sunday School) Student Ministry (Wednesday Night) Children Ministry (Sunday School) Wednesday Night Kids It takes the same amount of energy to worry as it does to pray. One will lead to heighten anxiety and stress and one will lead to peace. In the mist of all that is going on today, prayer is one of the most powerful tools you have to deal with these current events. As you pray remember the following 6 things: 1) Praise God 2) Thank God for what he has done for you 3) Ask for forgiveness 4) Pray for the needs of others 5) Let God know what is on your mind 6) Ask for His will to be done (1)   Take a moment to stop and think about all that God has done. Looking at the broad picture, one will realize that only God could have done what you see around you. Therefore, He rightly deserves our praise!   1 Cronicles 16:25 – “For great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised:” (2) After looking around for a moment and marveling at all His glory, focus in on what He has specifically done for you. Chances are you will recall many things but they will only be a fraction of what He has actually done in your life. PS100:4 – “Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.” (3) Perhaps the best way to cover your bases when asking for forgiveness is to say forgive me Lord for my sins, those I know of and those I failed to recognize. PS 86:5 – “For you, Lord, are good, and ready to forgive; and abundant in mercy unto all them that call upon you” (4) As you pray, also pray for others and remember as you receive your answers someone may have prayed for you. 1 Timothy 2:1  – “I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them.” (5) Think about what you really need. Avoid the temptation to give God a to-do list. He wants to hear from you but remember, He already knows your real needs. Phil 4:6 “…tell God what you need..” (6) And finally, you probably don’t need this reminder but when you think sometimes that the answer you got to your prayer was not the one you wanted recall Luke 22;42 “… Not My will, but Thine be done”. And in summary: PHIL4:6 – “Don’tworry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. 7Then you will experience God’speace, which exceeds anything we can understand. Hispeacewill guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.” Palm Sunday John 12: 12-16 12 The next day a great multitude that had come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem, 13 took branches of palm trees and went out to meet Him, and cried out: “Hosanna! ‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!’ The King of Israel!” 14 Then Jesus, when He had found a young donkey, sat on it; as it is...

Student Ministry

We want to see generations of teens rise to the call that God has placed on their lives and see the amazing journey He has for them!  We invite to come and be apart of our Student Ministry. The Youth Ministry of Halesford meets on Wednesday nights at 6:30 PM.  Youth Sunday School classes meet on Sunday mornings at 10:00 AM. We have the privilege of reaching students in grades 6-12. Our goal is to partner with parents, help students grow in the gospel, and equip them to fulfill the Great Commission by reaching, teaching and sending them to make disciples of all nations. Our purpose is to see students come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ (Romans 10:9). Then students learn how to love God with all of their heart, soul, mind and strength (Mark 12:30) as they follow Jesus in their daily walk. What is G3? Gather – Developing students spiritual walk with God. Grow – Teaching students core biblical truths. Go – Sending students into their community to be a witness for Christ Our teens are a part of a ministry that is Christ centered, relevant to their generation, and exciting to be a part of; that’s what we are all about! Our student calendar is full of events, concerts, mission opportunities, and other great ways to get connected and build lasting relationships. We look forward to meeting you here! You can also find us on Facebook at: https://www.facebook.com/G3-Student-Ministry-458804054243007/ Scaremare presents fun-house rooms and scenes of death in order to confront people with the question “What happens after I die?” Groups of people experience a 40-minute journey, passing through creepy trails, dark woods and eventually entering the House. At the end of the experience, visitors are presented with an answer to this question and given the life-changing message of Jesus Christ. Approximately 26,000 people have made decisions for Christ over the past two decades. Ironically, this House of Death points to the Way of Life! Students will be leaving the church at 6:30 Saturday evening October 19.  Please sign up in the youth room.  For more details please contact Pastor Taylor  540 – 598-0553.  Students will need to bring $10 to get in, and money for a fast food dinner.   Justified!!! The Bible teaches that Christians have been declared righteous before God. We have been justified in His presence because the perfect righteousness of Jesus has been accredited to our account. But what does this mean for us on a daily basis? Does this mean that there is nothing left for us to do as Christ followers? Yes and no. Since there was nothing that we could do on our own to deserve salvation, there is nothing left for us to do to keep our salvation. But, since we have been made new by the blood of Jesus, we are now called to strive to live lives worthy of the Gospel. Whether you choose to ski or to focus on our on-campus activities, please join us as we challenge students with the Gospel of Jesus Christ! We will be leaving for Snowbird December 31stand returning January 3rd. Our first day we will be spent on Snowbird’s Campus with all their onsite recreation which includes a top-notch ropes course, cable swings, zip-line, and four-sided climbing tower.  Snowbird also houses a paintball...

Simulcast

Saturday April 25, 2020, we invite you to join Bible teacher, Priscilla Shirer, and worship artist, Anthony Evans, for a global Bible teaching event! Women will gather from all around the world for this one day teaching and worship event.  There is no cost to attend this event.  We encourage women to arrive at 8:30am, and the event will finish up at 4:00pm. Speaker Priscilla Shirer is a wife and a mom first, but put a Bible in her hand and a message in her heart and you’ll see why thousands meet God in powerful, personal ways at her conferences and through her Bible studies. For over twenty years, Priscilla has been in full-time ministry to women. She and her husband Jerry lead Going Beyond Ministries and count it as their privilege to serve believers across the entire spectrum of the body of Christ. Priscilla is the New York Times bestselling author of more than a dozen Bible studies and books. Priscilla has also created “The Prince Warrior Series” – an epic, adventured filled, fictional saga that introduces teenagers to the realities of spiritual warfare. She has had roles in films like War Room (2015), I Can Only Imagine (2018) and the upcoming movie Overcomer (August 2019). Between writing and studying, she spends her days cleaning up after (and trying to satisfy the appetites of) three rapidly growing sons – Jackson, Jerry Jr. and Jude. Worship will be done by Anthony Evans For more than a decade, Anthony Evans has voiced the Gospel with such a melodic, thought-provoking style that he has emerged as one of Christian Music’s premiere male vocalists, songwriters, and worship leaders. His time in Los Angeles with NBC’s hit show The Voice led him to think more progressively about his music–without compromising his faith and message, Anthony wants to speak in terms that connect with people spiritually, no matter where they are at in their faith journey. With seven solo projects, multiple music videos, and inspirational literary collaborations with beloved pastor and international speaker Dr. Tony Evans, Anthony has vibrated the doors of the church and ventured beyond. We look forward to seeing you there!!!  ...
